The Satellite Clips Project combines visual art and film in an innovative and specific way. It shows in an exemplary way how an immersive show format can be developed through a dramaturgical approach (liquid staging) from a series of video clips and graphic artworks transformed into film graphics. Like the MEDEA 21 and ELECTRA 21 projects, the SATELLITE CLIPS PROJECT is a step towards a polydimensional vision, towards Cinema 2.0.
THE SATELLITE CLIPS PROJECT (Part 1)
SOUNDTRACK | The music of all video clips is by Mikis Theodorakis, primarily in various interpretations and arrangements by young musicians (including Ethno, Jazz, Rock, Classical, and Electro versions).
VIDEO CLIPS | The 10 Satellite Clips were created in collaboration with around 20 artists from six different countries. The younger artists among them (including graphic designers, musicians, filmmakers, costume designers, dancers, painters, choreographers, authors, video artists, DJs, actors, directors, singers, and composers) brought their own aesthetics to the creation of many of the video clips. The project was held together by the overall artistic approach of conceptual artist and filmmaker Asteris Kutulas.
FILM GRAPHICS | The 10 x 3 film graphics shown on screens 2/3/4 are edited still frames from the Satellite Clips film material, designed and digitally processed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos.
LIQUID STAGING | In the Satellite Clips project, 10 video clips (the Satellite Clips) are shown one after the other on the main screen (screen 1), while on the other three screens (screens 2/3/4) there are cinematic adaptations of 10 graphic works, with each screen featuring a different variation of the design. 10 Satellite Clips + 10 x 3 film graphics add up to 40 clips. The length of the clips varies between 30 seconds and 3 minutes. The total length of Satellite Clips Project Part I is approximately 13 minutes.
